Wow! Look at this handpainted porcelain Satsuma moriage trinket or dresser box
or powder jar depicting a god and goddess of Japan. Use the zoom feature to
look closer at the quality of the face paintings. It is just beautiful and
there are no chips, cracks, or crazing. This could be used on a lady's dresser
top or vanity to hold powder or rings or other small trinkets or on a man's
chest of drawers for his cuff links or tie clips as the brown helps this to be
usable for either sex. Or could it be a powder jar? This could also be on an
occasional table just for display and would look great in an Asian decor home.
It measures 6 inches in diameter and is approximately 3 inches tall with the
finial handle. It is marked on the bottom HK Japan and half of a laurel wreath,
also there is an impressed number B-183. I have been unable to determine who
the maker HK might be, but this is definitely a fine, quality piece. There are
a couple of teeny spots of scuff area on the brown on one side and the edge of
the lid rim has some paint wear that is only noticeable if you pick the lid up
to look at the edge. The gold on the finial handle of the lid is worn
consistent with its age and use.
Vintage or Antique means this is not NEW. I make every attempt to disclose in
the description and photos any wear and tear or damage that I note on each and
every item, so please read thoroughly and look at each photo.
I will be sure to wrap your purchase securely and ship in an appropriate sized
container to decrease the possibility of shipping damage. I do not make money
on shipping. I use Etsy shipping which calculates the cost based upon the
weight of the item in the size box it takes to ship it safely and they get a
discount from usual postal rates due to the high volume of shipping through
their site. To decrease my costs and be more green conscious I also reuse boxes
and packing materials.
